CITY OF KINGSBURY SPECIAL ELECTION
The registered voters in the Kingsbury city limits will have an opportunity this election period to vote in a Special Election in addition to the General Election. The proposal on the ballot is for a 1.5% Sales and Use Tax.
Of all the grants out there available to cities for municipal projects, only about 20% are open to cities with no sales tax - making Kingsbury currently ineligible for 80% of the grants. The City of Kingsbury has no property tax and in order to keep that status, will be depending on grants for many of the potential projects for the city and citizens. Having this small sales tax will open up the grant opportunities for Kingsbury and help keep the property tax at zero.
Early voting in this Special Election will be at the Kingsbury Volunteer Fire Department Station #1 (1060 FM 1104 at Hwy 90). The hours and days are:
Oct. 24, Oct. 25, Oct. 26, Oct. 27 (Monday thru Thursday) == 5 pm - 8 pm
Oct. 28 (Friday) == 7 am - 7 pm
Oct. 31, Nov. 1, Nov. 2, Nov. 3 (Monday thru Thursday) == 5 pm - 8 pm
Nov. 4 (Friday) == 7 am - 7 pm
The Election Day voting on Tuesday, November 8th will be held at the Kingsbury United Methodist Church (7035 FM 2438) which will also be the voting place for the General Election. Registered Kingsbury residents will have the opportunity to vote in the Special Election and the General Election separately but in the same room. All other voters will be eligible to vote in the General Election only.
