What the Incorporation of Kingsbury Means

It is not often when a group of ordinary citizens can get together, pool their talents for one great cause, and actually have the privilege of helping to successfully create a new Texas city--now that's just down-to-earth history making!

The vote is in. The new City of Kingsbury makes history with 97.1-percent voting in favor of the new city's incorporation and only 2.9-percent voting against the incorporation. A very BIG Congratulations and Thank You goes out to everyone who helped to make this election a very positive result!

The voter turnout of just under 40-percent was an exceptional turnout for a small community during an off-year election. This election was not about any kind of political power grab. Rather, it was all about the true Liberty City concept of limited government with no or low taxes and no or low debt in full recognition of the Texas Constitution which strongly states in: ARTICLE 1. BILL OF RIGHTS: That the general, great and essential principles of liberty and free government may be recognized and established, we declare:

Sec. 1. FREEDOM AND SOVEREIGNTY OF STATE. Texas is a free and independent State, subject only to the Constitution of the United States, and the maintenance of our free institutions and the perpetuity of the Union depend upon the preservation of the right of local self-government, unimpaired to all the States.

Sec. 2. INHERENT POLITICAL POWER; REPUBLICAN FORM OF GOVERNMENT. All political power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority, and instituted for their benefit. The faith of the people of Texas stands pledged to the preservation of a republican form of government, and, subject to this limitation only, they have at all times the inalienable right to alter, reform or abolish their government in such manner as they may think expedient.

This election effort has truly been an example of how ordinary people in small town/rural Texas can accomplish extraordinary things when the ultimate goal is for the betterment of everyone involved. In Kingsbury, everyone is invited to the decision-making table where community decisions are and will continue to be made in the open.

Now that our Phase 1 goal of incorporation of that area of the Kingsbury Community that sits out of but contiguous to the "claimed" extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Seguin has been effectively accomplished by an overwhelming majority vote, it is on to our previously announced Phase 2--the reuniting of all of the recognized historic Kingsbury Community back together as one City of Kingsbury.

We invite the City of Seguin to help us accomplish Phase 2 of our goal as soon as possible.

Bob Grafe Vice Chairman Kingsbury Incorporation Committee
